The Chicago Tribune recently ran a story about a police officer who found a box of letters destined for the landfill. Familiar with the blue and red markings of old airmail, the off duty officer collected the box from the trash and found himself transported to another time.
The article sparked a deluge of "Letters to the Editor" regarding mail and stamps. One of those quoted is APS member, Mr. Rodney Juell who wrote:
Stamps and postal ephemera offer portals through space and time; the personal narratives found within letters provides a first person peek into the human heart.
We know many families have learned a lot from letters handed down from generation to generation. What's your postal story? Where have you been "transported" to? Let us know on our APS Facebook page.
