It doesn't take convincing collectors that philately is everywhere and yet, we still find it fun when members share their run-ins with the hobby outside of our circle. Recently we received an email from an APS member who shared his encounter with philately in the November, 2020 issue of Astronomy magazine.
To our surprise, the piece was written by one of our AP contributors, Ms. Katrin Raynor-Evans. In this article, Raynor-Evans, introduces readers to stamps and cachets that represent astronomy and human discoveries associated with outer space.
This article goes on to describe how stamps and covers have universally documented space and human endeavors associated with its exploration. Additionally, the author, a philatelist herself, offers her fellow astronmers another channel in which to endeavor and enjoy their interest.
Read more from Katrin Raynor-Evans.
We love learning about philately appearing outside of the hobby so please share your encounters by sending us an email.
