Stamp collectors of all levels and interests looking for help can pose their questions to knowledgeable volunteer members of Learning About Stamps Online (LASO).
Conceived earlier this year, LASO’s mission brings collectors of all ages and philatelic specialties together via the Internet, sharing knowledge and resources with one another to better appreciate, enjoy and promote the hobby. There are now 220 members from 12 countries around the globe. It is APS Chapter #1621. The first LASO Zoom open meeting took place in June with monthly presentations taking place since then.
Many members clearly expressed their need to connect with experienced collectors to answer questions they had. That’s what sparked the idea of creating a list of LASO members who were willing to answer such questions, not only from members, but from the stamp collecting community as a whole. A page on the LASO web site is now dedicated to help any collector get answers. Click the “Philatelic Guides” category at the top of a page. Find the collecting area or specialty best matching the inquiry and send an email to the listed guide or guides. He or she will respond as expeditiously as possible. Please note that guides will not value or expertise items.
There is no charge to join LASO. Zoom meetings take place on the third Tuesday of every month at 8 PM Eastern, with an open discussion beginning at 7:30 PM. Complete details are on the LASO web site at https://learningaboutstamps.org/. Email questions to info@learningaboutstampsonline.org.
