The siege of Mafeking, South Africa during the Second Anglo-Boer War is well known for Lord Baden-Powell, the garrison commander, who later founded the World Scouting movement. When stamps ran out, a local “blueprint” issue was produced, some of which are among today’s philatelic rarities. This Stamp Chat presents what’s known, and what yet awaits discovery by knowledgeable, eagle-eyed collectors.
