United Nations Philatelists, Inc. (UNPI) will hold UNEXPO 2021 at American Philatelic Society (APS) Headquarters in Bellefonte, PA, October 29th and 30th. This stamp show, held in conjunction with the APS, will be the third such show held. The first show was held in State College in 1991, the fiftieth anniversary of UN stamps. The show will have a WSP exhibit made up of over 100 frames (over 1600 pages). The UN Postal Administration will be present, and will release a new set of stamps commemorating “Celebrations” on Friday, October 29th. The issue will be comprised of three different panes of 10-stamp personalized sheets. The show will have a number of talks on varied subjects, APRL tours, dealers featuring material for sale, the UNPI annual meeting, and an awards luncheon. Additionally, there will be a specialized UN Auction Held at the exhibition on Saturday afternoon, by H.R. Harmer, New York. Auction lots will also be available for viewing during the entire show on the bourse floor. Updates on UNEXPO 2021 will be made on the www.unpi.com website, including the exhibition prospectus and application.
UN philately is a rich and varied specialty. This includes official service stamps issued by the UNPA (who will be in attendance during the show) in New York, Geneva and Vienna, as well as stamps issued by France, the Netherlands and Switzerland, worldwide topical stamps, postal history of offices, peace keeping missions and conferences of the UN, its agencies and its predecessor organizations, dating back to 1865.
UN Philatelists was founded in 1978. Although the majority of its membership is in the US, there are members in Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Switzerland and Turkey. It publishes a journal six times a year. The journal is published as a printed copy, but also has an electronic version available to members on the website. The 24-page journal features articles on a variety of UN topics, including original research. Five of the journals each year feature an auction where members can buy and sell UN material. UNPI membership information is available on their website.
