William DeWitt, III's interest in historical and archival research can be seen in his dissertation completed in 2000, on “The Growth and Decline of Transportation Studies in Undergraduate Business Education from the 1890s to the Age of Supply Chain Management in the 1990s.” His presentation will focus on, graphically show, and discuss in detail, the evolution of intercity mail transportation from horse-powered and sail in the early days of the United States, to steam-powered ships and steam locomotive-powered railroads that took America into the 20th century.
This presentation was recorded on October 29, 2020 during the 11th Postal History Symposium.
